General questions
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Over-the-phone estimates are free, and on site we diagnose and quote the exact price before any work starts, never after. The service call is $35 to $85, and it is waived entirely when we do a repair over $250.
You will know the full price, including parts and labour, before we touch a tool. We put the price in writing before we start, so there is no surprise on the invoice.
What areas do you serve?
We come to you across Ottawa and Gatineau, including Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Orleans, Stittsville and Aylmer. There is no shop to drive to. We fix your door in your garage and carry common parts on the truck for a same-day, single-visit repair.
See all of our Ottawa and Gatineau service areas to check your neighbourhood. Whether you are downtown or in a far suburb, the call is local and the technician comes to you.
Can you come out the same day?
Yes, in most cases. We hold same-day slots open across Ottawa and Gatineau and carry springs, gears, rollers, cables and sensors on the truck. For a door stuck open or a car trapped inside, call us and we will prioritise you.
If your door fails after hours or on a weekend, our emergency garage door repair in Ottawa is available with the same flat pricing and no overtime fees.
Is the service call really free over $250?
Yes. The service call is $35 to $85, and we waive it completely whenever your repair comes to more than $250. So a spring job, a cable job or most opener repairs include the visit at no extra charge.
For smaller fixes under $250, the service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and we apply it toward the work. You always see the number before you agree to anything.
Do you charge overtime or weekend fees?
No. We never add overtime, evening or weekend surcharges. The price we quote before we start is the price you pay, whether we come out on a Tuesday afternoon or a Sunday morning. No hidden fees, ever.
Flat, honest pricing is part of our 90-day Done-Right Guarantee. You get a clear quote, warrantied work and no padding on the bill.
Repair questions
Is it safe to use a garage door with a broken spring?
No. With a broken spring the door is extremely heavy and held only by the opener and cables, which can fail without warning. Do not force it or run the opener. Stay clear and call for same-day spring repair.
A loud bang followed by a door that will not lift is the classic sign. We replace torsion and extension springs from $200, and you can read the full breakdown on our broken garage door spring repair page.
My opener hums but the door will not move, what is wrong?
A humming opener usually means a failed motor capacitor or a stripped drive gear, so the motor powers up but cannot move the trolley. Sometimes a broken spring is the real cause. We diagnose it on site and fix it the same day.
Try the manual release and lift the door by hand first. If it is heavy, the spring is the problem, not the opener. If it lifts smoothly but the motor will not run it, see our garage door opener repair in Ottawa, from $150.
My garage door came off its track, can you fix it?
Yes, and stop using the door now. An off-track door can fall or jam, and forcing the opener bends panels and snaps cables. We realign the rollers and track, check for damage, and get the door running safely the same day.
A door usually jumps the track after a broken cable, a worn roller or an impact. See off-track garage door repair for what to do before we arrive.
My garage door will not close, what should I check?
Nine times out of ten it is the photo-eye safety sensors near the floor. If the door reverses or the opener lights blink, the two sensors are misaligned or dirty. Wipe the lenses and check they face each other.
If the door still will not close, a roller may be binding or the down-force limit is set wrong. We sort the cause on our garage door safety sensor repair and alignment visit, or under full garage door will not close repair.
Cost questions
How much does a garage door repair cost in Ottawa?
The service call is $35 to $85, free with any repair over $250. A single spring starts from $200 and a pair from $300, a roller set is $100 to $200, opener repair starts from $150, and a new opener installed starts from $220.
There are no overtime fees, and we quote the full price before we start. For a complete part-by-part breakdown, see garage door repair costs in Ottawa.
How much does spring replacement cost?
A single torsion spring starts from $200 and a matched pair from $300, with the service call free because the job is over $250. The exact price depends on the spring size, wire gauge and cycle rating your specific door needs.
On a two-spring door we replace both, since the second is close behind the first. See the full breakdown on garage door spring replacement cost.
How much does opener repair or replacement cost?
Opener repair starts from $150 and covers most gear, capacitor and sensor faults, with no overtime fees. A complete new opener installed, such as a LiftMaster Pro, starts from $220. We quote the full price before we start, never after.
If your opener is over 12 years old or the board has died, a new unit is usually the better value. Compare both on garage door opener repair and replacement cost.
How much does a new garage door cost installed?
A new single garage door starts from $1,500 installed, including removal of the old door and full setup. Insulated and double doors cost more. Financing is available from $89 a month if you would rather spread the cost.
Price varies with size, material, insulation and windows. See new garage door cost in Ottawa for full pricing, or our garage door financing options to plan the payment.
Installation questions
Are you a Garaga dealer?
Yes. We install Garaga doors, a Canadian brand built for Ottawa winters, alongside other quality lines. Garaga doors come with thick polyurethane insulation and a strong warranty, and we size, order and install them to fit your opening exactly.
Garaga is our most-recommended door for attached garages because it holds heat and resists cold-weather warping. Learn more on our Garaga garage door installation page.
Should I get an insulated garage door for Ottawa winters?
Yes, if the garage is attached or heated. An R-16 insulated door holds heat far better, cuts noise, and resists denting. For Ottawa winters that reach below minus 20 C, the polyurethane core is well worth it on an attached garage.
An insulated door also keeps the slab and pipes warmer along a shared wall. See insulated garage door installation for R-values and options.
How long does a new garage door installation take?
Most single-door installs take three to four hours, and a double door about half a day. That includes removing the old door, mounting the new sections, fitting the tracks and springs, and tuning the balance and opener before we leave.
We schedule a clean, single-visit install and haul the old door away. For sizes, styles and materials, start at new garage door installation in Ottawa.
Safety and brand questions
What garage door brands do you service?
Every major brand. We repair and install Garaga, Clopay, Wayne Dalton and Steel-Craft doors, and LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman and Linear openers. We carry common parts on the truck, so most repairs are a single same-day visit regardless of brand.
If a discontinued part is no longer made, we tell you honestly and quote a fair replacement instead. See the full list on brands we service across Ottawa.
What is the red cord hanging from my garage door opener?
That red cord is the emergency release. Pulling it down disconnects the door from the opener so you can lift it by hand during a power outage. Only pull it when the door is fully closed, never while it is open.
Pulling the release with the door open lets a heavy door drop if a spring is weak. Reconnect by pulling the cord toward the door, then running the opener until the trolley re-latches.
Why does my garage door have sensors near the floor?
Those are the photo-eye safety sensors, required by law since 1993. They send an invisible beam across the opening, and if anything breaks it while the door is closing, the door reverses. They stop the door closing on a child, pet or car.
If the door will not close and the lights blink, the sensors are misaligned or dirty. We handle that under garage door safety sensor repair and alignment, never by bypassing the safety system.
Who does the work and is it guaranteed?
Repairs are done by Omar, a factory-trained technician, and our crew. Every repair and install is backed by our 90-day Done-Right Guarantee, so if the same fix does not hold within 90 days, we come back and make it right at no charge.
You get a clear quote, an honest repair-or-replace recommendation and warrantied work. Read more about our factory-trained technician and the 90-day Done-Right Guarantee.
