Front and entry doors only

Front and entry door replacement in Ottawa

HUSH replaces main front and entry doors across Ottawa and Gatineau. We assess the existing opening, discuss steel or fibreglass options and quote the door, frame and sealing work that is needed. A sticking door or soft frame needs diagnosis before you choose a replacement.

What does a front door replacement actually involve?

A prehung replacement supplies the door in its frame, with the sill and weatherstripping specified for that assembly. A slab-only replacement keeps a suitable existing frame. HUSH checks the opening, frame condition and hardware before recommending either scope.

The frame must suit the proposed slab, hinges and lock preparation. A door that sticks can also have hinge, frame or threshold problems, so changing the slab alone may not resolve it. Soft wood or water damage needs its own assessment. Any resizing or structural work must be confirmed separately before it is included in the job.

Steel or fibreglass: which entry door suits an Ottawa house?

Steel and fibreglass are options to compare by the actual door construction, finish, glazing and exposure. Steel can dent or corrode where protection is damaged. Fibreglass avoids steel-skin rust but its finish and other components still need care. Neither material makes the whole entrance maintenance-free.

Ask for the chosen product’s thermal and finishing information, including any limits for direct sun or an added storm door. Therma-Tru’s care resources cover the finish, sealed joints and other parts of an entry-door system. Use the instructions for the product installed on your home rather than a maintenance rule based only on the word steel or fibreglass.

What affects the price of a new entry door?

The quote depends on the door and frame scope, material, glazing, sidelights or transom, hardware and site conditions. HUSH has not published one entry-door price that covers all of those combinations.

Ask which assembly and glass options are included, whether the existing frame remains, and how removal, disposal and finishing are handled. Hidden damage can change the work needed; agree how it will be assessed and quoted if found. Confirm the expected duration and any ordering lead time before scheduling installation.

Can the front door and the garage door be matched?

Colours, finishes and hardware can be coordinated across the front door and garage door. Compare physical samples in the light at your home. A shared colour name does not guarantee an exact match between different materials, suppliers or an existing weathered finish.

If you are also considering a new garage door, ask to compare the two finishes together. Aluminium capping can cover sound exposed trim where suitable. It does not repair rot or resolve water entering behind the trim; those conditions need separate attention.

What entry door work do you not do?

HUSH’s confirmed service here is main front and entry-door replacement. Patio, sliding and French-door work is outside this offer. Storm-door supply, installation and repair are also unconfirmed and are not included in an entry-door booking.

Describe the complete entrance when asking for a quote, including any outer screen or storm door. We can then distinguish the requested work from the main entry-door replacement. Do not assume that a second door, altered opening or extra hardware is included unless it appears in the agreed scope.

Is a storm door part of the entry-door replacement?

A storm door is a separate outer door fitted in front of the main entry door. Replacing the main door does not automatically replace or include that outer assembly. HUSH has not confirmed storm-door supply, fitting or repair as part of this service.

Andersen explains the role of the outer storm door. Its installation guidance also requires checking the entry trim, mounting space and handle clearance. Those requirements depend on the selected storm door and entrance.

If your enquiry concerns a screen panel, storm-door closer or outer-door fitting, say so before booking. That is a different scope from replacing the main entry slab or prehung assembly. Obtain a service-specific confirmation before arranging any storm-door work.
